Skagen is the northernmost point of Denmark, where the Baltic and North Seas meet. The two opposing tides in this place can not merge because they have different densities.

This has been in my drafts for the longest time, and gosh what a sad photo. Eutrophication is a major problem in the Baltic Sea and other places too, such as the Gulf of Mexico, an actual dead zone. Basically, increased nutrient dump into aquatic systems (due to excessive fertilizer and detergent use) causes an increase in the trophic activity in those systems, e.g. increased photosynthesis rates by algae which leads to algal bloom, which then leads to oxygen depletion, which then leads to the death of other organisms in the system, like fish.

If I’m not mistaken, the lighter part is the dead zone.
